Term 2 was a busy and exciting one for Year 6! We absolutely loved our history topic, World War II, where the children learned about the key events and significance of the war. This included exploring the Axis and Allies, different battlegrounds, propaganda, the impact of rationing and evacuation, the Blitz, and the importance of remembering the Holocaust. In Art, pupils were inspired by wartime artist Paul Nash, developing their oil pastel techniques to create powerful WWII-themed artwork. Our WWII Immersion Day was a real highlight. The children came dressed for the era, baked carrot cookies using rationed ingredients, and enjoyed traditional wartime games such as draughts and four square. It was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life.
In Science, we had a great time investigating electricity, building different circuits using key components and learning how to accurately draw and recognise circuit symbols.
We also had lots of fun in PE this term. The children learned a new sport – basketball – developing skills, strategies and tactics to maintain possession and score. In our second PE unit, we focused on fitness, testing speed, stamina, agility, strength and balance.
We finished the term with some festive Christmas fun, rounding off what was truly a busy but enjoyable seven weeks. Well done, 6KC, for your enthusiasm and hard work throughout the term!
