Moredon Primary & Nursery Learning & Education

Welcome to RBH!

We are one of the Reception classes at Moredon, which is taught by Mrs Bentley (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Halstead (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). We are lucky to have the support of our Teaching Assistant Mrs Ward.

Topics we will be covering this year:

  • Term 1 - We are all Superheroes
  • Term 2 - Winter Wonderland
  • Term 3 - Once upon a story
  • Term 4 - Animal Kingdom
  • Term 5 - to infinity and beyond
  • Term 6 - We're all going on a Summer holiday

Morning Routine

Children will be welcomed into the classroom in the morning by a member of staff. We encourage the children to say goodbye to you in the playground and come into the classroom independently where they will put their books bags, water bottles and coats away before starting their early morning mindfulness.

Home Time Routine

We will stand with the children at the classroom door and let them go when we see you in the playground. If your child is going to an after school club or is being collected by someone other than yourself, then please let us know or give the School Office a call.

Home Learning

Please read with your child daily. We will change the children's books regularly throughout the week. We also ask that you support them with their phonic sounds by working through their phonics booklets and practising their words.

School Uniform/PE

It is essential that your child has a full PE kit in school during the whole week if they are to participate in activities. This kit along with their school uniform must be labelled with their full name. The kit should include: white t-shirt, black shorts, daps/trainers, socks and a spare pair of pants. It is also worth putting in a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a jumper for when the weather gets cold as we do have PE sessions outside! The PE kit must be placed inside a clearly named PE bag. If your child has long hair, then they need to have a hair tie to put their hair up. If your child wears earrings, then they can either be covered up with tape or removed. In Reception we normally keep PE kits in school for the whole term and send them home for washing at the end of each term.

Wellington Boots

For wet weather activities and welly walks, we ask that your child brings in a pair of wellies that are names. These will be kept on the welly rack outside our classroom door.

Snack and water bottles

Please can you provide your child with a clearly named plastic water bottle to use throughout the day. The children can refill their bottles from the tap in the classroom. We will also provide your child with a mid-morning snack of fresh fruit. If you have signed up to Cool Milk, then your child will also have a carton of milk to drink in the morning.

Please feel free to contact us - we are always available to talk if you have any queries. If there's anything that could affect your child's day and you feel we need to be aware of then please let us know in the morning, and if you wish this can then be discussed in more detail after school. For any dates please see the school website or our newsletters.
