Hello and welcome to 5KC!
Here we strive for creativity and curiosity. We love to ask questions and discover answers through research and attempting new things.
Our teacher is Mr Le Coyte and our teaching support staff are Mrs Holley and Mrs Connor
Our topics for the year are as follows…
- Term 1 China
- Term 2 Ancient Greece
- Term 3 Rivers
- Term 4 All about the Author
- Term 5 Romans and Celts
- Term 6 Black History
In Year 5, children are expected to read every day. Our reading system is now up and running and reading books are still to be taken home on Mondays and these will need to be returned on Fridays. No homework diaries will be given out or taken home for Term 2.
Children will need to practise their times tables daily and will have a practise sheet sent home with them today. These will stay at home to support their maths learning.
Your child’s PE day is on Tuesdays this term (unless specifically told otherwise). Every Tuesday, your child will need to come into school wearing the appropriate, school PE kit (white t-shirt or polo; black shorts or jogging bottoms and trainers or daps). Please ensure that jumpers and jogging bottoms are worn if it’s likely to be a chilly day as all PE sessions will be outdoors. Your child should also still bring in a coat.
If you would like your child to have a snack at break time, please provide a healthy snack such as fruit, vegetables or a multigrain breakfast bar. Please avoid unhealthy snacks such chocolate and crisps.
We will be available for short messages at the beginning of the day, but due to new policies, we would ask that you save longer messages for a phone call or through a letter. If your message involves a longer conversation, you could also email the office at [email protected] and the office will ensure that the message gets to us during the course of the day.
As a reminder, children should not be bringing in bags or rucksacks to school. This is to avoid unnecessary cross-contamination between school and home. They should only be bringing in a coat, a water bottle, a snack and their lunchbox if they have packed lunches.
If your child does wear a mask into school, they must also remember to bring in a sandwich bag in which to put the mask until break times or the end of the day. The mask should remain in this bag whilst in the school building.
Thank you so much for your continued support, especially during these challenging times.
Mr Le Coyte
