This week the children have been reading the story 'Rainbow Fish' and have been writing a description of the Rainbow Fish including the conjunctions 'and' or 'because'. Our role play area has turned into a beach and the children have enjoyed finding shells and treasure in the sand and writing postcards to their families.
In Maths this week the children have been learning to use positional language e.g. over, under, next to, in front of, behind etc. In their child initiated learning, the children have been colouring in and drawing pictures of the beach and Rainbow fish.
On Thursday, a group of children from our class went to Pizza Express to learn how to make pizzas! The children had a fantastic time and were delighted to take their pizzas home.
Don't forget that our class assembly is on Thursday 13th June at 2:30pm. There will be no homework set this week, instead the children need to learn and practise their lines.

This week the children have been practising for their class assembly and on Thursday they performed to parents/carers. They did such a fantastic job of remembering their lines and they spoke so loudly and clearly. The children should be really proud of themselves! Thank you to all parents/carers who came to watch.
This week the children have been writing sorry letters to the Little Blue Fish imagining they are the Rainbow Fish. In maths this week the children have revisited adding using a tens frame to ensure they are all secure with using a tens frame to add and recording their number sentences. In their own child initiated learning, the children have been painting pictures of the Rainbow Fish and using the program Purple Mash on the computers to create fish pictures.
This week the children have been writing what they can see and hear at the seaside. The children have been looking at photos of UK seaside resorts and sharing memories of what they have done at the seaside with their families eg building sand castles, having donkey rides and eating fish and chips!
In Maths this week, the children have been recapping 2D shapes and making repeating patterns. The children have also explored symmetry and have created their own symmetrical pictures using paint.
The children are developing their confidence with their swimming skills and are enjoying our weekly swimming session every Wednesday.
Rochelle was awarded the Star Achievement this week for always trying her best. Well done!
This week the children have been writing about what they enjoy doing in school to contribute to their end of year school report. They have been discussing during our Jigsaw and circle time sessions what they are looking forward to in Year One but also sharing what they are worried about. We are doing lots of work in class to prepare the children for Year One and to ensure they have a smooth transition.
In Maths this week the children have been consolidating how to subtract using a tens frame and counters. The children have been recording number sentences and learning what the symbols - and = mean.
The children have also started making dream catchers as part of our WHF Arts Festival Project.
Mason was awarded the Star achievement this week for trying really hard with his writing and becoming more independent and Ava was chosen to take Tiger home. Well done!
Reception went on their school trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park on Tues 16th July. The children loved looking at the animals and enjoyed a trip on the train
